吴金宝（郑惠玉 饰）、庄瑾（杨妙玲 饰）和琦琦（林梅娇 饰）本是感情十分要好的朋友，然而，花心大少劳伦斯（沈金兴 饰）的出现令爱慕虚荣的吴金宝和庄瑾同琦琦之间产生了矛盾。一次偶然中，吴金宝的母亲无意间引发了一场火灾，将一幢房子烧毁殆尽，身为律师的琦琦不得不代表房地产开发商，向吴金宝的母亲提出索赔。吴金宝对琦琦怀恨在心，对其进行了一系列报复。劳伦斯将假钞放进琦琦的首饰盒里，又栽赃陷害庄瑾，好在琦琦聪明过人，凭借自己的智慧化解了这场危机，亦将作恶多端的吴金宝送入了监狱。入狱后的吴金宝逐渐体会到了自己曾经的荒唐，她原谅了琦琦，在狱中生下了劳伦斯的孩子，打算出狱之后重新做人。
